Cerebrolysin
Also known as: FPF-1070
A mixture of low-molecular-weight neuropeptides and free amino acids obtained from porcine brain tissue. It is approved as a medicine in several countries and widely studied in stroke and dementia research.
Structure
- Molecular formula
- Heterogenes Peptidgemisch
- Molecular weight
- ~10,000 Da (durchschnittlich)
Mechanism of action
Cerebrolysin acts on several neurotrophic pathways. Its peptides mimic endogenous neurotrophins (BDNF, NGF, CNTF) and support neuronal survival, synapse formation and neuroplasticity.
